Breaking News!!!

1/28/12

Had a great time at Acoustix Cafe last night.  Tammi Waller did a great job of opening for me and Dax played a nice set on my second break.   Much thanx to Robb and all the folks at Acoustix Cafe.   As always, greatest thanx to the folks who come to the show and make it worth my while.  Next up is Sonnet's on 2/25.   Be well, stay safe and have fun.

12/8/12

Just taking open mics this month.  Back to regular shows in January.   Been to Acoustix Cafe open mic nearly every Monday.  The talent there just keeps getting stronger.  Went to Sonnet's last night and added a show for February 25th.  Saturday I went to Woodchopper's Ball as usual.  Nine great acts.  Nice workshop at Ohio Music in the afternoon before the show.  Be well, stay safe and have fun.

11/12/11

Wow!  What a turnout for my first show at Acoustix Cafe.  Great night for all concerned.  Many heartfelt thanx to all who came out to cheer me on.   I will be back there in January on the 10th and the 27th.
I'm taking the rest of this year off from full shows.  Maybe I'll see you at an open mic somewhere.   Get out there and see somebody, we all can use all the audience we can get.  Be well, stay safe and have fun.

11/1/11

Had a great show at Sonnet's on the 22nd.  Big thanx to all who came out and enjoyed the evening and the music.   Last night I stopped by Acoustix cafe to drop off my flyers for the Veteran's Day show and found out it was Colin John's first night hosting open mic there.   Uncle John was good enough to lend me his guitar so I could do a set.  He will be opening for me on the 11th.  Hope to see you there.

10/17/11

Had a great time at Voice of Emmanuel Cafe on Saturday.  Big thanx to all who came out for a night of music and friendship.   Big news!  I'll be playing a show at Akron's new acoustic music venue, Acoustix Cafe on veteran's day.  See poster below.

10/2/11

Here it is, the edge of winter.   Stone Tavern was a bit of a character builder.  Thanx Tom Ball for coming in and giving your support.   Nice room, but hard to fill early on a Tuesday.   Hope to get a chance to try again.   Anyhow, this month I'll be at Voice of Emmanuel Cafe and Sonnets.  I'll put the posters below.    Speaking of Tom Ball, he's got his show on the internet now, check the link below.
Come on out and support live music.

9/11/11

At least i made it back in under a month this time.  Played a show at Sweet Pea Cafe on the 27th of August.  Had a good night.  Always a fun place to play.  Did a couple of short shows with Summit County Songwriter's Circle over Labor Day weekend.   Much better turnout at Taste of Hudson even if it was a little cold.   Last night I played at Sonnet's.  Threatening waether kept a few folks away.  They missed a good show.  Thanx to all who came in and enjoyed all Sonnet's has to offer.  I'll be back there on the 22nd of October.  As always, Be well, stay safe and have fun.

8/23/11

Wow! time has flown.  Eight weeks since last.  Anyhow, many thanx to all who came out to my shows in July.   Didn't have any solo shows to date in August but Sweet Pea is coming up on the 27th.
What I did do was play some dates with Re-Nu-Al and the Panicks.   Re-Nu-Al is the reincarnation of Rosemary and the Roadrunners that I played country with through most of the '80s.   Shows were in Springfield, Doylestown and Canton.   Had a great time playing them.
Saturday the 20th was the Panicks picnic.  Great day in spite of the PA problems.  Bill and Rose from Re-Nu-Al stopped by and did a couple of songs with us.  All in all a wonderful day.
Hope to see you at an upcoming show.  Be well, stay safe and have fun.

5/15/11

"Playing The Game" is in release as of May 10th.   Had the release party at Jammin' Java Place on the 6th.  Pete Vallejo and Steve Mehal helped with entertaing our guests and a good time was had by all.  "Playing The Game" is available at CdBaby and emusic and many other fine online outlets.
Hope this finds you all well and happy and ready for some music.

edmanwalkin is Ed Amann, guitarist, songwriter and folksinger, in Akron Ohio. This site includes rants and links to other sites concerned with life and music on Earth. Welcome to my site. I will try to keep to the description above. I'm mostly into playing and writing music, but once in a while I just have to get up on the soapbox (see the rants page). My all-time favorite activity is getting out and playing for people.

My history: Started with guitar in 1963. Started for the music, but got a lot more interested when I found out musical types were attracting more girls. Started playing in public at The Needle’s Eye in Kent. Started playing with bands while in Army in Texas. Toured with Elmore Brothers Band in mid '70s. Played with a lot of commercial bands around Akron since. Started playing as a single in 2001 in order to get my songs out to the public. I pick music from all times and many genres for my shows. I like to say, "If you don't like what I'm doing, wait 3 minutes, it will change".  The songs I write are crafted to fit with this wide range of material and include songs of conscience, railroad songs, blues, alt-country and hilljazz (my countrified take on jazz and pop standards).

A partial list of songs I perform:
Traditional and Folk: "Wild Mountain Thyme"; "John Riley"; "Cotton Fields"; "The Water Is Wide"
Old Favorites: "Big Rock Candy Mountain"; "Ain't Misbehavin'";  "Side By Side"; "God Bless The Child"
Less Old Favorites: "Love Potion Number Nine"; "Chimes Of Freedom"; "Stand By Me"; "Turn The Page"
Railroad Tunes: "City Of New Orleans"; "Railroad Work Song"; "Glendale Train"
Blues: "Built For Comfort"; "Who's Been Talking"; "Key To the Highway"
Hilljazz: "Sunny"; "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"; "Summertime"
Songs of Conscience: "There But For Fortune"; "Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream"
Original Songs: "Heresy"; You Are the Only Rose"; "Lazy Day"; "Fly Away Sometime"; "Life Is Good"; "Just A Little Thing"; "Got To Roll"
